四位具有冒险精神的小泰迪熊生活在折纸艺术风格的场景中，他们会在日常游玩中与许多经典绘本不期而遇，进行集体阅读，并互相分享感受。片中出现的书目将综合专业教育顾问、出版社、以及播出方的意见来选择，其中将会包括中国原创绘本。

《饥饿书熊》将不会对绘本中的场景和角色进行动画改编，而是将绘本插画原汁原味地搬上银幕，突出书本与四位主角之间建立阅读连接的过程，及对绘本的品评本身。

小泰迪熊们会随着阅读的深入主动提出问题、猜测接下来的情节，并将绘本故事情节与自己的生活经历作对比，从而为小朋友和家长示范什么是参与式阅读、分享式阅读。

四位主角将会成为儿童阅读大使，为不同性格儿童早期阅读习惯的养成，及家长对绘本的深度挖掘提供帮助，同时促进孩童们树立正向价值观：关爱、尊重、好奇、勇气、分享、交流、机智等。

The Book Hungry Bears love sharing books. Each episode sends them off on an adventure through their beautiful papercraft world in search of a book they can share together, catching books that flit and flutter like birds amid the trees.
